32” LCD TV

Let’s say you currently own a 27” CRT TV (the old-fashioned kind.) It was probably a great TV in its day, but times have moved on. LCD and plasma TVs are the most sought-after TVs on the market today due to their excellent picture quality. If you walk into an electronics store and find yourself drawn to a 32” LCD TV, there’s a simple reason: it’s about the same size as your 27” LCD HDTVs are among the most popular sellers right now, and the most popular size is 32 inches. That's because a 32” LCD TV is about the same size as your current 27” TV. A widescreen 32” LCD TV playing a 4:3 image measures about 26” diagonally. 32” LCD TVs are also popular because prices tend to be lower than on larger models – you can find a discount 32” LCD TV for around $1,000.

You may also be surprised to learn that you can sit closer – comfortably – to a 32” LCD TV than you can to a 27” CRT screen. Why? Because the resolution is sharper, your eyes won’t be distracted by the horizontal lines and other screen artifacts that can appear on a standard television. That still doesn’t mean you’ll want to sit too close: the optimum viewing distance for a 32” LCD TV is around 7 feet. (If your room is small, consider a smaller size, or consider mounting the unit on the wall to save space and increase your viewing distance.)

Because 32” LCD TVs are so popular, it should come as no surprise that manufactures put considerable time and effort developing quality units. In 2005, for example, 4 of the top ten LCD TVs evaluated by Consumer
